From the very outset, the people who set up Basketcase Gallery vowed that the very platform would be one where emerging and experimental artists were genuinely considered, never forced to rely on crutches such as prestige. These are the artists living creatively and wanting to throw a rather strong wrench in a few sorely traditional exhibition formats. Integrity of the art, serving the community, and inclusiveness, in that order, are the values Basketcase stands for—before merely getting rich.
Somewhat ironically so-called are the Basketcase gallery crewmembers who recognize 'mad' creativity from a madman's musings: a salute to imperfect, experimental, and quirky, all cool according to their gallery parenting philosophy. Not only do they respect alternative ideas; they promote them. Basketcase has been representing the idea of art exhibits disassembling the conventional and provoking vivid discussions about art and its social role since its inception.

Basketcase acts for various things in various modern senses, in which a certain balance is maintained between more commercial and underground artists.
